China Uses Hacking to Target Dissidents and Protesters

China went so far as to create fake security tools to collect data to target dissidents and protesters. This included a fake antivirus software that actually installed, instead of removed, trojans on to anyone foolish enough to install Anvisoft. They also created a data mining platform called SonarX to mine social media and gaming accounts for contacts to track various participants in the Hong Kong autonomy and democracy movements, Falun Gong members, and others who the Chinese government sees as dissidents. Honestly, I think Falun Gong’s worst crime is those yellow shirts. Their entire philosophy revolves around truth, benevolence, and forbearance.

This wouldn’t be so creepy but this is tied into the Chinese trade in human organs harvested from these dissidents.
